Sadly I went to prom dateless because my ex bf dumped me 3 days before prom day... At least I had fun though with my friends!

It's wild to think that 'beautiful' often meant 'unwearable.' Who decided that lace, tulle, and stiff satin were the pinnacle of children's fashion? You were just a logical person reacting to an illogical design.
My heart goes out to your younger self in that dress. All she wanted was comfort, and all the adults saw was a lack of grace. This is a perfect example of why we should listen to children's physical discomfort
The struggle was so real! Beauty standards truly put us through the wringer, even as little kids
This is such a powerful metaphor for so many things—the performance of femininity, the sacrifice of comfort for aesthetics, and the generational gap in what was considered 'proper.' Thank you for this.
